My flatmate put up a camera in the hallway 'for parcels'. Am I overreacting?
The complainant says
We've had a few parcels go missing from our building's entrance, so my flatmate bought a little indoor camera and stuck it on the wall in our flat's hallway, pointing at the front door. It records whenever there's movement.
The problem is the hallway is also where you walk between the bedrooms and the bathroom. So it basically records me walking to the loo in a towel. They didn't ask before putting it up. I said I wasn't comfortable and they said I was overreacting and it's only for security.
The other side says the flatmate, as the complainant tells it
They say the camera only saves clips for 24 hours, nobody else can see it, and it would help if anyone ever broke in. They're happy to show me the app. They think I'm being paranoid and would rather have the peace of mind.

Recording people walking to the bathroom in their own home without asking is not a small thing. You're not overreacting.
'Happy to show you the app' is not the reassurance they think it is.
If it's for parcels, point it at the letterbox from outside the flat door. Easy.
A video doorbell would do the same job without filming the corridor.
I think they meant well but should have asked first. Take it down, have the conversation.
Yeah this. Good intentions, bad execution.
