Terms of use

Agreement
By using CrumbJar you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. The site is operated by [operator name not set], [operator address not set].
For entertainment
CrumbJar is for entertainment. Results reflect the people who took part here and are not scientific, representative, professional or factual advice.
What you post
You are responsible for anything you submit. You must not post content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit involving anyone under 18, defamatory, infringes someone else's rights, reveals private information about another person, or is spam. You keep ownership of what you submit, but you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, adapt (for example to fit a share image) and distribute it on the site and on our social media channels.
We may remove content or restrict access at our discretion, including through automated filters.
Section by section
These terms cover every part of CrumbJar. Some parts add a few rules of their own:
Survive (/survive)
Names on results
If you add a name to your result it must be your own first name or a nickname. Do not use anyone else's name, offensive words or personal details. Names that break these rules are removed.
Candid (/candid)
Questions you ask
Questions must be ordinary, answerable questions. They must not name or identify private individuals, target a person or group with abuse, contain personal information, or promote anything illegal. Submitted questions may be edited for spelling, recategorised or removed.
Jury (/jury)
Submitting a case
Cases must describe ordinary disputes. You must remove anything that could identify the people involved, including full names, addresses, workplaces, schools, phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, links, photos and distinctive details. Do not allege serious criminal conduct (such as assault, sexual offences, abuse, theft or fraud) about identifiable private individuals. Do not submit cases about public figures, children or anyone who is clearly identifiable. We may edit, hold for review or remove any case.
Comments
Comment on the dispute, not the people. No abuse, slurs, threats, personal details, speculation about who people are, or attempts to identify anyone. Comments may be filtered automatically, hidden after reports and removed by moderators.
Word (/word)
Your word
You can add one word per day. Words must not be hateful, threatening, sexually explicit or contain personal information about anyone. We may normalise the spelling of your word, count it without showing it, or remove it from public display.
Guess (/guess)
Your answers
Answers must not contain personal information about anyone, hateful or threatening language, or spam. We tidy up, group, rename or hide answers, and we may remove any answer from public display.
Predict (/predict)
Receipts are permanent
Once locked, a receipt's text, number, lock time and creator cannot be edited by anyone. The one exception: if you delete your account, the creator name on your receipts is replaced with "Deleted account". Please check your wording before you press Lock prediction. You may withdraw a public receipt (make it private), but your public profile will continue to count it as withdrawn.
What you may not lock
Predictions must not threaten or harass anyone, predict or wish for the death, illness or harm of an identifiable person, make allegations of crimes against identifiable private individuals, contain personal information such as addresses or phone numbers, promote betting or gambling, or be spam. We may hide or remove receipts that break these rules. A removed receipt shows a notice with its number and lock time.
Declaring outcomes honestly
Declare outcomes in good faith and add evidence where you can. Repeatedly declaring false outcomes, or voting in coordinated ways to manipulate verification, may lead to receipts being marked disputed, corrected by our editors, or removed, and to accounts being suspended.
Owner links
If you lock a receipt without an account, the secret owner link is the only way to manage it. Anyone who has the link can resolve it or change its visibility, so keep it private. We cannot recover a lost owner link.
Slang (/slang)
What you type
Do not type anything illegal, hateful, threatening or sexual, or any personal information about yourself or anyone else. Translations can be opened by anyone with the link and may appear on leaderboards and our social media channels. Automated filters block or soften unsuitable text, and we may hide any translation.
Later (/later)
Tasks you type
Keep task descriptions short and about a task. Do not include names, contact details or anything about other people. Tasks that contain unsuitable content are replaced with a category name, and receipts can be hidden by moderators.
Acceptable use
Do not try to manipulate results (for example with bots or scripts), overload the site, scrape it at scale, get around rate limits or security, or access the admin area without permission.
Reporting
If you believe something on the site is unlawful or breaks these rules, report it. We review reports and act where appropriate. Anything visitors write can also be reported where it appears: when two different people report it, it is hidden until a moderator has looked.
Difficult topics
Some things on CrumbJar are about difficult topics. They are shown only to people signed in with an adult games account; everyone else sees a notice instead. Do not use someone else's account, or give a false age, to get round this.
Availability and liability
The site is provided "as is". We do not guarantee it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for content posted by users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
