Three years without a single offer of petrol money. I'd have handed the keys in years ago.

The complainant says

I don't drink much, and I'm the only one in my friendship group with a car. For the last three years I've driven to basically every night out, festival, wedding and birthday, and dropped people home at 2am across three different towns.

Nobody has ever offered petrol money. For a friend's 30th in the countryside next month I said I'd like to have a few drinks for once, so we should book taxis or a minibus. The group chat has gone quiet and one friend said it 'makes everything more complicated'.

The other side says the friends, as the complainant tells it

They say I offered to drive in the first place, never said I minded, and that I'm the one who doesn't drink much anyway. They feel it's unfair to change things for a party where getting a taxi is really expensive.

Not drinking much isn't the same as never wanting to drink. You're allowed a night off.

Book the minibus, send everyone the link and the price per head. Don't ask, tell.

I used to be this person. Once I stopped, the group sorted itself out in about a week.
