Is it okay to ask a stranger to stop playing videos out loud on the bus?
The complainant says
On a 40-minute bus journey, a woman sitting across the aisle from me played short videos on her phone, out loud, one after another. No headphones. The same laugh track kept repeating.
After about fifteen minutes I leaned over and said, 'Sorry, would you mind turning that down or using headphones?' She said she didn't have any headphones, and turned it down slightly. Then she muttered something about people being uptight.
The other side says the other passenger, as the complainant tells it
She says she didn't have headphones with her, it's a public bus and people talk loudly on the phone all the time, and she did turn it down when asked.

Fifteen minutes of patience before asking politely is saint behaviour.
No headphones, no videos. It's not complicated.
Subtitles exist too!
People talking on the phone is not the same as a laugh track on repeat.
She did turn it down though. That's a partial win.
