Am I wrong to ask the person next to me at the gym to wipe down the bench?
The complainant says
At my gym there are signs everywhere asking people to wipe equipment after use, and spray bottles and paper towels at every station. A man finished a set on a bench, left it absolutely soaked in sweat and walked to the next machine.
I said, as politely as I could, 'Sorry, would you mind wiping that down?' He looked annoyed and said, 'You can wipe it yourself if it bothers you that much.' He didn't wipe it.
The other side says the other gym-goer, as the complainant tells it
He says he was in the middle of a circuit, was coming back to the bench in a few minutes and would have wiped it at the end. He says it's not my job to police other members.

There are signs. There's spray. There are paper towels. The case closes itself.
Someone's sweat puddle and 'wipe it yourself' is a truly impressive level of confidence.
Coming back in a few minutes doesn't mean anyone else knows that. Wipe as you go.
Tell the staff next time. They'll say it for you and he can't argue with them.
