Was I wrong to read the last chapter of the book my partner and I were reading together?
The complainant says
My partner and I have a tradition of reading the same book at the same time, one chapter a night, and talking about it. We were on a thriller with a big twist. My partner went away for work for three nights and asked me to wait.
I managed two nights. On the third I cracked and read the ending. When they came back I tried to act surprised in all the right places, but they worked it out within about ten minutes because I 'reacted to a clue too knowingly'. They are properly annoyed.
The other side says the partner, as the complainant tells it
They say it's a small thing but it's our thing, and I promised. They're more annoyed that I pretended than that I read ahead.

Reacted to a clue too knowingly is the funniest thing I've read all week.
The reading ahead is forgivable. Faking surprise is where you lost the case.
This is the most wholesome dispute on the whole site and I hope you're both fine.
Buy them the author's next book as an apology and promise to read it after them.
