Should I have to pay for a cleaner I never wanted?
The complainant says
There are four of us. Three of my flatmates voted to get a cleaner every fortnight for the kitchen, bathroom and hallway, split four ways. It works out at about £22 a month each. I voted no, because I clean up after myself and honestly I'm tight on money at the moment.
They went ahead anyway and now expect me to pay my quarter. I said I'll keep cleaning my own mess but I won't pay for someone to clean up theirs. They say majority rules.
The other side says the flatmates, as the complainant tells it
They say the communal areas were a constant source of arguments and a cleaner fixes it for everyone, including me. They say I benefit from a clean kitchen whether I pay or not, and a house has to make decisions together.

Majority rules is fine for what film to watch, not for spending other people's money.
It's a shared house though. Bins, internet, cleaner. Same thing.
Internet is essential. A cleaner is a nice-to-have. Big difference.
You use the kitchen and bathroom, you benefit. That said, I get it if money is tight.
If you're really tight on money say that plainly. Most decent flatmates would cover you for a few months.
Offer to do the cleaning yourself every other week instead of paying. Problem solved.
