Cash bars are completely normal in the UK. What's not normal is saying so to someone at the wedding.

The complainant says

I went to my cousin's wedding. There was a drink on arrival and a glass of fizz for the toast, then a cash bar for the rest of the day and evening. Drinks were £8 to £12 each. On top of that I'd paid for a hotel, a gift and a new outfit.

I mentioned to a family member at the end of the night that it was an expensive day and that I was surprised it was a cash bar. It got back to my cousin, who's now telling people I'm ungrateful and should have brought money if I wanted to drink.

The other side says the cousin, as the complainant tells it

My cousin says they spent a fortune on the venue and food and couldn't afford a free bar, and nobody is forced to drink. They say complaining about their wedding to other guests was hurtful.

£12 a drink is venue pricing though. That's the bit I'd be surprised by.

You said it quietly to family at the end of the night. That's venting, not a campaign.

Both a bit much. Should have kept it to yourself, they should let it go.
