Should the bride's family pay for the whole wedding in this day and age?
The complainant says (My parents)
My fiancé and I are getting married next year. My parents have offered a generous contribution. His parents have said they won't contribute anything to the wedding itself because 'traditionally the bride's family pays', but have offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner.
My parents feel this is outdated and unfair, especially since his parents are comfortable financially. His parents feel they're following tradition and being generous with the rehearsal dinner. My fiancé and I just want everyone to stop arguing.
The other side says the future in-laws, as the complainant tells it
His parents say they made it clear they'd follow tradition, they never asked for a big wedding, and nobody should feel entitled to their money. They also say they'd happily contribute to a house deposit instead.
