My partner booked a holiday with his mates on our anniversary. Am I overreacting?
The complainant says
Our fifth anniversary is in June. Two months ago I mentioned I'd like to do something special for it. Last week my partner told me he's booked a four-night trip abroad with his friends for a stag do, leaving the day before our anniversary.
He says he just didn't check the date. I said he could have looked at a calendar before paying, and that forgetting a fifth anniversary hurts. He says we can celebrate the weekend after and I'm making it a bigger deal than it needs to be.
The other side says the partner, as the complainant tells it
He says the stag date was set by someone else and he couldn't miss his best friend's stag. He booked quickly because flights were going up. He's offered to plan a nice weekend away when he's back and thinks the date itself matters less than the celebration.
